Sometime ago I had posted a video of a 400w trolling motor on my paddle board. It's a good option for a leisurely stroll on the lake. The 24 v 20AH battery would last you entire day.
Then while vacationing in Florida, I tried to take jersurfing lessons. But the hyperactive trigger kept throwing me off. I asked the instructor if there was an option for a slower mode. He says there wasn't.
So I started looking to build my own, and I think I might be getting fairly close to it. In the process I am also designing a boat propulsion system that may reduce drag and improve usability significantly.
Here is a first video of the test I did on the 6000w motor I ordered. It's the same motor used in foil boards and jet surfers. But right now I am using my ebike battery which tops out at 1500w. My hope is to cruise on my paddle board comfortably. I may upgrade to larger battery later.
